George Bush

He joined the U.S. Navy to become an aviator.  He was assigned to Torpedo Squadron (VT-51) as a photographer.  He piloted one of four Grumman TBM Avenger aircraft from VT-51 that attacked the Japenese installations on Chichi Jima.  With the surrender of Japan, he was honorably discharged in September and then entered Yale University.

In 1948 George had graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale with a B.S. in economics.  In 1953, George had started the Zapata Oil Corporation.  In 1964 George had won the Republican Parties nomination for the U.S. Senate from Texas.

He had briefly lobbied to be Richard Nixon's running mate in this years president election.

President Nixon convinced Bush to give up his own House seat to run again for the Senate against Democratic Senator Ralph Yarborough, a fierce Nixon critic.

President Richard Nixon appointed him to the United States Ambassador to the United Nations,which he had served.

This year's president election, he ran for president, stressed his wide range of goverment experience.

During the second term as being the Vice President, he became the very first Vice President to become a Acting President when, on the month of July, President Ronald Reagan underwent surgery to remove polyps from is colon.


He was the 41st President of the United States of America.
